Unless you live under a rock, you’ve surely heard tons of chatter about everyone’s “Word of the Year” - It’s a bit different than a resolution, a little more all-encompassing and for me personally, a lot more feasible. Resolutions tend to be daunting (though I did make one to wake up at 6AM M-F and so far, it’s been a GAME CHANGER). However, this is my 3rd year picking a word to guide my year ahead and I can’t say enough about how it’s shaped my decisions, my relationships and my mindset.
Last year, my word I chose was ABUNDANCE. I thought about that word all year. It guided me through business, through my family (hello, 5th baby!), through giving, and so much more. I was able to repeat it to myself when I wasn’t sure of a decision to make or needed clarity. Turns out, we had the most abundant year - financially, relationally, and personally. So cool to see words bring life.
This year, I wanted to pick something that I could use as a mantra. I grew a TON last year personally, set a lot of really healthy (but really difficult!) boundaries, prioritized my time and self in a much healthier way and wanted to carry that through to this year. I stepped out of my comfort zone more often than I stayed in it and became very comfortable in my skin.
My word for this year is UNAPOLOGETIC. I want to say “no” without guilt, to set boundaries without fear of repercussion and to do what is RIGHT and feels good for myself, my kids, and my husband. I want to be unapologetically passionate, loving, confident, and firm.
I’m SO excited to see how this word shapes my year ahead, as I know it’s going to be a really big year for our family.
What is your word of the year (and why!!) - I would LOVE to hear more about it in the comments!
