Newborn Necessities for the 4th Baby

Newborn Necessities for the 4th Baby

We're on the verge of our 4th baby arriving, and normally at this point, I hit a bit of a panic mode and realize that I'm totally unprepared. I buy a gazillion things, research all the new baby products and ultimately am over-prepared if there was ever such a thing. However, this time is a bit different. I'm feeling at ease - thanks in part to the fact that I've done this before (one or twice ;). The other thing that's put me at ease: I know what I need. There's the essentials (i.e. a diaper, a onesie and a boob), there's the basics (clothes, blankets, hats, somewhere to sleep ect...), and then there's the extras (every damn thing you see at Target, on Amazon or at Land of Nod that you just have to have ... marketing really works).

SO...since I feel like I've sifted through a fair amount of baby gear & apparel (and everything else!) in the past 5 years and 3 kids, I thought I'd share a round up of some of my must-haves for the first few weeks!

NEWBORN.jpg

ONE. Kickee pants are LIFE. Seriously the softest, most buttery baby clothes you'll find. The perfect outfits for coming home, wearing all day (& night!) and also extra stretchy for growing. These are the ones you'll be searching for in the warm dryer.

TWO. Parasol Diapers have been our go-to with Winnie and I can't wait to use them with #4 from the get-go. They feel like underwear, are SO soft, and the patterns can't be beat. I was a pampers loyalist for the first two but am an official convert!

THREE. Modern Burlap swaddles - because no matter what, you can't have enough swaddle blankets with a newborn.

FOUR. I've literally thrown away multiple thermometers through the last 5 years because they just DON'T work more often than not. The Fever Frida is seriously an amazing gadget - it's basically a wearable thermometer that syncs to your iPhone. A stroke of genius.

FIVE. Dock-a-tot! Ok, I'll admit, I haven't used this yet, but am SO excited to. When Baylor was born, we owned a Nap Nanny, which was our saving grace. They've since been recalled and I've been on the hunt for a replacement with the last two babes. I finally came across these and am SO happy to have a safe, breathable alternative to the Nap Nanny.

SIX: Freshly Picked Moccs - my #1 baby item! The perfect baby shoe, and now they have NB sizes. Seriously the best.

SEVEN: Our Solly Baby wrap has been such a life-save for us and I'm sure it'll get even more use with the fourth baby. It's easy to wrap, rarely loosens or slips and isn't nearly as obnoxious as some of it's friends out there ;)

EIGHT: Milk Snob carseat cover ... I used to drape a swaddle blanket over my carseat when I'd go anywhere, because dirty hands and newborns give me hives, but thanks to the genius that is Milk Snob, I have something that covers me while I'm nursing and covers the baby while they're in their seat. (This basically tells people to mind their own damn business!) Total winner.
